An Ordinary Moon


It’s an ordinary moon. 

Not special

like a harvest moon 

or a blood moon

or a pink moon in April

and there’s no stone 

at it’s heart.

It’s heart is full though

But it doesn’t have to be.

The tides still obey it

and when it shines 

through the clouds

it’s light is milky

like a moonstone

and it lights me up.


So is that ordinary

that mystic moonlight?

  Let’s Dance “I’ve been dancing in the rain,” you said. You didn’t need to tell me, I’d seen you in the distance doing your Gene Kelly thing and more than looking the part.
