Afraid Of The Light
I am not afraid of the dark.
Night time engulfs me,
covers me gently
with it’s thick darkness,
comforts me with its curtains
of blackness.
I don’t need to hide.
It hides me.
So I bury myself
in the darkness,
the good thick
subterranean darkness
let it cover my face
so I can’t see the ruins
I’ve built around me.
But it’s never enough
to quell my fears.
I can’t forget what lies above
where the light shines.
