Reading Blind


The page has so many words

tumbling around

and I’m trying to sort them

with my fingers,

to get them into my fingers, 

and off the page

into my head

where somehow

perhaps

I can make sense of them.


Then they’ll have to get out

of my head

and into my mouth

so that the book 

with the unknown author

can speak out.


I should help them

but I can’t let them out

while they’re in such a jumble

and they can’t seem to put themselves

in order

I have to do that

with my fingers.

I have to decide

what to make of them.

They can’t seem to do it alone.


And I search in vain


for your name.

A Fictional Account This story is fiction. Made up. Made up like a face. First the base, the foundation, then the shadows and highlights, the blushers and sparklers, the reds and the blues to add interest and shape. Then lines for emphasis.
