To Break The Mould She tried hard to break the mould she that she could rise anew. But it wouldn’t break. She emerged the same each time, cold as stone. Statuesque. So she broke the stone. Smashed the statue with a hammer. Broke it   in two. After that, it was easy to break the mould. https://www.pikerpress.com/article.php?aID=10545

And Then Stand up! Stand out from the crowd of follow my leaders. Dance in the rain sing out of tune unfurling   your red umbrella. Wear red in the dark to be seen. And then, it’s your scene.   Towards The Light We always headed for the light like the forest trees we wanted to leave the darkness behind and push ourselves up tall and straight unwavering. Now you’re following us making a new pathway through. And when you see   the red worms of sunlight   seeking you out and penetrating you as they pass through. you will know. You will know you’ve reached your destination. These worms won’t devour you though, they’ll let you through to where you were meant to be. https://www.amazon.com/Cadence-Poetic-Rhythms-Anthology-Poetry-ebook/dp/B0D6RMWG8Z/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2BRCGZDFURJ1E&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.JzQNLLUfYVqnDoSy1DWIGg.oBhG6aIcIbX8CRFqt70lDTcJbCtQYODCqVK6V8z8GDk&dib_tag=se&keywords=cadence+Zonneveld&qid=1718646180&s=digital-text&sprefix=cadence+zonneveld%2Cdigital-text%2C67&sr=1-1

Holding The Sunlight She learned to catch the sunlight to hold it in her hands and let it warm them with the scents of summer to let its rays shine through then open her fingers wide and let it go free.   https://www.amazon.com/Cadence-Poetic-Rhythms-Anthology-Poetry-ebook/dp/B0D6RMWG8Z/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2BRCGZDFURJ1E&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.JzQNLLUfYVqnDoSy1DWIGg.oBhG6aIcIbX8CRFqt70lDTcJbCtQYODCqVK6V8z8GDk&dib_tag=se&keywords=cadence+Zonneveld&qid=1718646180&s=digital-text&sprefix=cadence+zonneveld%2Cdigital-text%2C67&sr=1-1

Collateral Damage Once they were cities, noisy alive lived in now   only blackened carcasses remain, still standing where all else has fallen. Jagged towers,   the bare bones   of dreams standing   still. Still as the lost dreams stopped in their tracks. Standing still the graveyard of the lost, the lost dreams and dreamers. https://edgeofhumanity.com/2024/06/19/collateral-damage/

Refugees At school there was a weekly collection  for charity. I saved up my biscuit money so that I did not seem different, more impoverished than the rest. And so that I had something to give to those less fortunate. I knew what charities were, you see. Well, except for the one called ‘Refugees’. I did not know what refugees were. This was 1956. Only six years after the ending of a war creating millions of refugees and I had to ask what they were several times. Even then, I didn’t understand. It made no sense to me. I didn’t understand. https://spillwords.com/refugees/

Under The Skin My outside skin no longer fitted me well, didn’t always represent me didn't look like I still feel like I still am. So I dispensed with it, wrote it off, turned it inside out and now I’m intact in the pink myself  at last I think. And therefore I am the same person under the skin. I’m sure I am. The outside has changed but inside my skin I am still intact in the pink of myself  as before. I think I am. https://feversofthemind.com/2024/06/16/past-the-silent-earthquakes-series-inspired-by-tori-amos-poems-by-lynn-white/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2Qqs_2RcE40r7ijy6TXMcYaiDaB5WeuRSCteDyDF74rIsLgG77dJXuebc_aem_0UsYecu_EWEuFg_4SOXBjw
