Some Of Them Are Brave Everyone knew it was happening the unheard story the tens of thousands dead, the millions displaced, the decades of rubble, the destroyed schools. hospitals, universities everyone knew. Everyone knew it was happening the unheard story even though the journalists were dead or expelled and banned everyone knew. Everyone knew it was happening the unheard story of the hundreds or thousands, or tens of thousands who had disappeared uncharged with any crime or misdemeanour everyone knew. Then three Israeli workers blew their whistles loud and everyone heard what everyone knew. Now the trick is to listen. https://dissidentvoice.org/2024/05/some-of-them-are-brave/

Breathing Space My eyes are closed now waiting for the pennies. Are yours open yet? You said you were colour blind but I said that your eyes were closed. Are they open yet? In the end all I needed was breathing space. Perhaps it’s all we ever need. I hope you will speak my name and the names of the other breathless people. My ears are open. Open your eyes. https://chewersmasticadores.wordpress.com/2024/05/28/breathing-space-by-lyn-white/

Bourgas to Varna In the days when East was east and West was west we were travelling in Bulgaria and wanted to go from Bourgas to Varna. So we bought a bus ticket from the office in town. and helpful locals directed us to the bus station. But once there we were lost and searched in vain for the bus stop. We asked and asked, showed everyone the ticket but no one could help. Many pointed to the office nearby. But we already had a ticket for the correct date and time. We were lost beyond our understanding. And then there was a sound, a sound of ship’s hooter and we were surrounded by people making running movements with their hands. So that was how we missed the boat, missed the last boat of the day, missed the last boat of the year. We never did make it to Varna. https://dashboardhorus.blogspot.com/2024/05/monday-may-272024-lynn-whites-bourgas.html

Do You Remember Do you remember when the future stretched endlessly ahead, when the older looked forward  to a contented retirement and the younger to all the joys of life and living. Now the mists are down swamping everyone  in a gloomy miasma and the future is closing in moving closer and closer, a cell-like structure of mutating cells. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1569158

No Mans’s Island No man is an island wrote Donne centuries ago. He understood the predicament understood than man, or wo-man is one part of a whole which is one part of something larger and so on into mind-blowing infinity. No man, or wo-man can stand alone and reach their potential  in isolation or when isolated on some small island  however grandiose the delusion. And a small island cannot thrive. if it makes its sea an impenetrable wall to protect it from the to-ing and fro-ing of all but but the tides it will stagnate sink into decay turn in on itself until the walls are broken and the seeds  set free to fly away. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1569158

Somewhere The Birds Are Singing He managed to open the shutters a little way but the gap was smaller than he expected. He eased his head and shoulders inside. The rest of him, his arse and legs remained outside covered in a blanket Then, as dawn broke, covered once more by a blanket of early spring snow. Somewhere the birds are singing, he thought. Somewhere else the birds are singing. file:///Users/davidmarks/Downloads/the-fringe-poetry-magazine-2024.pdf

Red Alert It’s not enough to take to the streets one million two million it still needs more. It’s not enough to sign your name three million  four million it still needs more. It’s not enough to cast your vote nine million ten million think of a number million it still needs more. It’s never enough the clowns still will have more. file:///Users/davidmarks/Downloads/the-fringe-poetry-magazine-2024.pdf https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1569158?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR2GtWxtNu7HBbWLLvvMjH2nxzqK0CY626pHfl9AmWmDLj5r-K69DSHwVxg_aem_Vvi1eukxTHDYq_uMz3o0eA
