Shortness Of Breath



This new year looks much like the old

already

we are being suffocated

with pillows of power

and prejudice,

hardly hidden,

in the institutions

we were told would protect 

us all.

Some of us

believed it.


But the masks are off now,

forced off the face by lies.

All they hid is exposed.

We know it now

as we look behind the masks.

A Fictional Account This story is fiction. Made up. Made up like a face. First the base, the foundation, then the shadows and highlights, the blushers and sparklers, the reds and the blues to add interest and shape. Then lines for emphasis.
