Homage To The Jacaranda
It is rumoured to have been painted by John and Stu
but it’s a magical mystery as no one really knows.
It’s a mystery also how they found light to paint
or rendered the sweaty cellar walls dry enough.
But it is known for sure that the darkness
and rivers of running water
made it invisible to us
then.
Perhaps Arthur had inspired them there
over shared ciggies and bad coffee
or perhaps ideas were traded
and influenced him in turn
for his ‘Four Lads Who Shook The world’.
They’d all have liked that and have had a laugh
and lit a ciggie or few down all the years to come.
They were frequenting the same space and time
in that best of times and they knew it.
We all were and we know it still.
